TEXAS FORWARD PARTY ENDORSES KIRSTA MELTON FOR HAYS COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SAN MARCUS, TX - September 18, 2026 – The Texas Forward Party is proud to announce its official candidate endorsement of Kirsta Melton, who is running as an Independent candidate for Hays County District Attorney.

Melton, a 25-year felony prosecutor, legal scholar, non-profit founder, and Dripping Springs resident, brings decades of senior prosecutorial experience and proven executive leadership to Hays County. Her career spans extensive trial work, including serving as Deputy Criminal Chief of the Human Trafficking and Transnational Organized Crime Unit at the Texas Attorney General’s Office, founding the Institute to Combat Trafficking, and co-founding Truckers Against Trafficking. A graduate of Cornell University, the UT Austin LBJ School of Public Affairs, and the University of Texas School of Law, Melton also serves as a professor at both Texas State University and UT Austin.

Running on a common-sense, constituent-first platform, Melton is committed to independent justice that operates free from party politics, position, or status. Her platform centers on three core pillars: Trust Through Transparency, the Importance of Integrity, and the Power of Professionalism. To modernize and rebuild trust in the DA’s office, Melton's key policy initiatives include establishing an open, data-driven public dashboard on case outcomes, creating a Conviction Review Unit to prevent wrongful convictions, implementing vertical prosecution models to eliminate trial delays, and ensuring strict ethical standards across all neighborhoods and communities.

"Kirsta Melton represents an exceptional, pragmatic leader who embodies servant leadership, deep legal expertise, and unyielding integrity," said Brandon David, State Chair of the Texas Forward Party. "Her decades of prosecutorial experience, commitment to non-political justice, and focus on transparent, data-driven outcomes make her an ideal candidate to deliver fair, accountable governance for all residents of Hays County."

Melton’s candidacy brings principled, results-oriented leadership to Hays County, offering a vital independent choice for voters who believe justice should be based strictly on the facts and the law.
