Natalie Merchant added to lineup for 46th Annual John Lennon Tribute Honoring Cyndi Lauper

NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, October 19, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- In celebration of John Lennon’s birthday this month, Theatre Within, the non-profit behind the Annual John Lennon Tribute since 1981, announced the artist lineup for its 46th Annual John Lennon Tribute – Saturday, November at the historic Town Hall in New York City. Joining this year’s John Lennon Real Love Award honoree, Cyndi Lauper, is a stellar gathering of artists featuring past honorees Natalie Merchant and Joan Osborne, plus Sammy Rae, Morgan James, and Jake Wesley Rogers, with additional performers to be announced. Founding member of the Fab Faux, Rich Pagano will serve as Music Director for the 18th consecutive year.

Lauper, a trailblazing singer-songwriter and social activist, will take the stage to perform a special set of her favorite John Lennon and Beatles classics. She joins a prestigious lineage of John Lennon Real Love Award honorees, including Patti Smith, Kenny Loggins, Graham Nash, and the previously noted Natalie Merchant and Joan Osborne.

Transforming Lives Through Music and Creativity All proceeds from the Tribute will benefit Theatre Within’s ongoing free programs in the creative arts and mindfulness for communities in need. The nonprofit’s programs include the John Lennon Real Love Project songwriting workshop, which serves families impacted by cancer and public elementary schools.

Now entering its second decade serving the cancer community, Theatre Within provides more than 200 free workshops annually in songwriting, the visual arts, and meditation.

Through the John Lennon Real Love Project public school program, students are given the rare opportunity to write new lyrics to "Real Love" and record their own version of the song accompanied by John Lennon’s original vocal and piano tracks. Since its launch in 2021, the program has been provided to 35 schools.

Produced in association with Music Without Borders, the Annual John Lennon Tribute remains the only John Lennon tribute concert in the world sanctioned by Yoko Ono and Sean Ono Lennon.
